WHERE

Caulfield Racecourse

The time has come to prepare you all for our return to the races….After selling out our last event, smalltown is going back to Caulfield Racecourse with some serious house and techno. And this time around we are PROMISING you an even bigger lineup than our last venture. ‘Impossible!’ we hear you say, but it’s true. This line up is killer. It’s locked in. It’s loaded. And it’s ready to deliver. Our brains hurt just thinking about the size of the talent.

But our ears and eyes rejoices at the thought of the already booked Funktion-One Soundsystem, and the production that was on offer (which we are looking to go one better on that this time around).

Nina Kraviz is one of the most celebrated (and outspoken) DJ’s of her generation, and might just be the most popular electronic dance music artist to come out of Russia in the last decade. Being one of the dance media's most talked about identities might deflect from the fact that she is a DJ and producer at the top of her game, but she constantly delivers the sort of techno sets that her sold out audiences reminisce on for days through their social networks. With the recent release of a DJ KICKS mix compilation for tastemaker label !K7, Kraviz is stronger and more relevant than ever.

Ben Klock is one of techno’s most distinguished selectors - and also a long time resident of the scene's current spiritual home, Berghain. Playing sets full of hypnotic, deep and heavy grooves, releasing records on Ostgut Ton, and running his own label Klockworks, have earned Klock an reputation that is unparalleled in the notoriously fickle techno community (and also a Top 6 placing in RA's 2014 Top DJ poll). Alongside Marcel Dettmann, Klock has redefined the term techno, and he is widely regarded as one of the torchbearers for the sound in the 21st century. Make no mistake; Ben Klock is techno royalty.

Irish duo Bicep are children of the internet. Born out of a small online blog posting about music they love (Feel my Bicep), they've progressed into a true international brand and one of the scene’s most loved and followed acts. As their 2014 Essential mix showcased, their poison is everything from obscure disco grooves to smokey and undiscovered underground techno. With their profile as international tastemakers set in stone, you can expect a deep crate-digging set traversing the genre universe with one uniting theme: rollicking Arnold Schwarzenegger-sized fun.

With an assortment of house, techno, disco (occasionally)and splash of new-age-italo-cuban-cigar-smoking-afro-beat, Fantastic Man presents a unique interpretation of music. Internationally championed, Man is responsible for a string of sold-out records on New York’s Let’s Play House, London’s Wolf Music and is now doing it on his own terms, by running two labels – Fine Choice Records, a platform for his own music, and Superconscious, a co-operative with equally brilliant Melbourne producer Francis Inferno Orchestra. He is also one half of the one-time, one-release-only duo sensation (with Max Graef) Real Dubz. Fantastic Man productions can be found on famous compilations like DJ Kicks, and have been played by some of our favorite heroes such as Giles Peterson, Move D and Larry Heard. As a DJ, Fantastic Man’s unique and off-kilter shoulder maneuvers, along with his strange but wonderful music selection have earned him bookings at some of the world’s best known clubs like Fabric London, Watergate Berlin and Output New York.
